Brincábamos juntos, alegres sin meditar por entre los riegos del campo de la zafra. Las flores y el fruto sabroso del viñenal hacían que nos olvidemos de nuestro hogar... llegábamos muy sudorosos a la orilla del río Bermejo, qué lindo para nadar, del río que adorna Tarija mi hermosa tierra natal. Un día el río no estaba de buen humor, mis ojos miraban su furia con estupor. En brazos de un remolino la envolvió sin meditar un poquito en mi gran dolor. Sabía que ella alegraba mi corazón, los dos consolábamos nuestras desventuras.
